I don't think there's a single wasted shot in the whole film. Case in point - when Wreck-It Ralph came out back in 2012, Disney actually had a few Fix-It Felix arcade games. It plays well with themes, dichotomies, it foreshadows well and everything is beautifully shot and constructed. Its funny how some things translate to real life after you see them in a movie. Now, I understand that just because a game has a foreign soundtrack, doesnt make that game instantly foreign. The first one is that the BGM of the game is Japanese. There are two clues that support this idea. Besides Sugar Rush and Heros Duty, Ralph was going to go into a game called Extreme Easy Living 2. Wreck-it Ralph is an incredibly well constructed film. My theory is that Sugar Rush is a game that is Japanese, but was imported directly from Japan and translated into English. Here are a bunch of random, interesting facts you probably didnt know about Wreck-It Ralph. They could've made it a platformer or a brawler as well, maybe a shmup, but racing was really the perfect fit. Similar to Donkey Kong or the original Mario Bros, this looks like an 80s game that somehow has survived to modern era. They couldn't have the majority of the action in Hero's Duty, since the enemy is based there and the spread of the bugs is the point, so they need to be in a different game, so it all has to coalesce within a third game and it has to be a game that is diametrically opposed to both Ralph and Calhoun's natural game styles to create the fish out of water aspect, and for the Turbo storyline to play out properly, it needs to be a game type that iterates regular and has been around since the first arcades. Sugar Rush Speedway is an online game that is an adaption of the fictional game in Wreck-It Ralph called Sugar Rush. Consider the age of the game by the graphics and gameplay depicted. They couldn't have the majority of the action take place in Fix-it Felix, the whole point of the movie is that Ralph is antsy and needs something outside of his base game. As much as I would've like to see Q*Bert show up while Felix and Calhoun are holding the bridge and say "Help is on the way" followed by a huge squadron of video game villains fighting an endless horde of bugs, the point of the movie was to be about these new characters, not to be an adaptation of existing video games. Play this Wreck It Ralph game and race all the way to the end in a world in 3D made out entirely of different sweets.
